Featured art of the 2025 Prairie Village Art Fair.
This painting embodies the spirit of the area. I live close by, this piece is extra special to me, as my neighborhood. Bringing my children up to the Village, growing our garden of native flowers and veggies, sharing in the community and enjoying the parks. With this painting, I leaned into materials that come directly from the Village and neighborhoods itself, plus a little of my own. Broken shards of the brick from the Village are nestled in the texture, blue prints have been cut and attached, old aerial photo of the shopping center have been layered in. The book pages are from a local garage sale. It is the Odyssey, which seems appropriate as my journey is represented in this piece at this phase my life. I also included some fabric from my grandmothers sewing room to share the traditions we pass down as we grow our families. In the center of some of the textural flowers are toys, beads, and some tiny humans. Little trinkets from my kids layered into the canvas. Finally, I have painted playful hydrangeas that are so plentiful though out the Village. I hope to invite the viewer to jump into this colorful adventure and find their own story inside it
